Editorial Review: Nancy M. Bell
Eden Monroe paints an accurate picture of life in the Maritimes when travel by horse and buggy and steam ships were common and hard work was the order of the day. The journey of the two star-crossed lovers is engaging and not overdone with unnecessary drama. The inclusion of a rich young lady determined to capture the handsome Garrett for her own is fraught with frustration, but also a bit of humour. Add in some small town prejudices and unlooked for adversity to season the plot and you have a great read. I look forward to reading the as yet unwritten future stories of the Kavanaghs.
